The strawberry festival is the biggest event celebrated in the Plant City, Florida. This event is started in 1930 by the newly organized Plant City Lions Club, when they supposed the idea of an event to celebrate the plentiful harvest of strawberries.
The festival is deeply involved in the production and marketing of strawberries, which is usually held in late spring time of harvesting strawberries. Every year parade is held at the beginning of the festival as an honor and people from all over the country come to enjoy the environment and consume strawberries in a variety of ways of which the most popular one is strawberry short cakes.
It is an event which brings the communities together through celebration of harvest. The festival is celebrated continuously every year to preserve the heritage of the Florida strawberry. Being recognized as the best festival in US, many people come to visit the strawberry festival and it recorded the attendance of 500,000 people in just 11 days. It is one of the top 40 fairs of North America.
The Strawberry festival is the 11 day festival and it illustrates many agricultural displays, livestock shows, arts and crafts, local food, headline music concerts and huge carnival midway. It also includes social events, contests; youth developmental programs and parades with glorious floats and high stepping marching bands. It is a place for street market- style crafts and item sales. There are also free entertainment shows and musical concert performances twice a day which requires tickets to be purchased.
The festival also holds a competition for the title of “Strawberry Festival Queen” , First maid and three court members.
The eleven days festival is celebrated by providing goods, family fun with great entertainment, friendly competitions, and full of Strawberries!
